***Revised  2009 – 2010 School Year Calendar
We continue to experience difficult economic times in Georgia and this has resulted in the Governor's recommendation for additional furlough days for school system employees. The Governor previously recommended three furlough days that were to be taken prior to December 31, 2009.  In the Governor's FY 2010 Supplemental Budget and in the proposed FY 2011 budget, state funding (Quality Basic Education {QBE} funds) are being cut an additional 3.5% this year and 5% next year.   This results in employees taking an additional four (4) furlough days before June 30, 2010.   At a Special Called Board Meeting held on January 26, 2010 the Butts County Board of Education voted to implement the mandatory furlough days. These furlough days have made additional changes to the calendar for the upcoming school year necessary.

Board of Education

2010-2011 School Year Calendar
Adopted by Board of Education
Monday, December 7, 2009
The board has adopted two calendars for the next school year.  The first calendar has 180 attendance days for students.  The other "companion" calendar has 175 attendance days for students and may be implemented should the need arise for school system employee furlough days.  In the event that it becomes necessary to implement furlough days, the "companion" calendar has been approved by the board and may replace the 180 day calendar.  The public will be notified of any changes.
You may view both calendars by clicking the link on the left side of this page under "School Year Calendars".
